Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes are statements of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that we want our graduates to possess. We use them for continuous improvement and they are the criteria on which organizations such as AACSB evaluate our accreditation. They are important to who we are so we make them public. The following is a list of the current Learning Outcomes in our Graduate School of Management programs.

Master of Business Administration (MBA), Online MBA (OMBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA)

1. Perform the fundamental activities of business.
2. Communicate effectively in a business setting.
3. Comprehend global strategic issues.
4. Apply ethical reasoning to business situations.
5. Use analytics to assist in making strategic business decisions.

Master of Science in Accounting (MSA)
1. Apply critical thinking to accounting issues.
2. Communicate via written and oral communication skills.
3. Apply professional knowledge and skills of accounting.

Master of Science in Applied Economics (MSAE)
1. Support decision making in the business and public policy arenas using the standard analytical tools of applied economic analysis.
2. Provide economic analysis to decision makers in both the private and public sectors.
3. Act as skilled translators and liaisons between various business and policy specialists within organizations.
4. Communicate effectively to convey the results and significance of their technical input and professional advice to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Master of Arts in Corporate Communication (CCOM)
1. Establish the business case for communication functions within the corporation and lead and coordinate the comprehensive communication functions of a corporation.
2. Articulate the importance of having a clear corporate vision, mission and identity of a corporation and develop and execute plans for communicating these both internally and externally.
3. Assess internal and external corporate communication needs and develop strategic communication plans.
4. Articulate the roles corporations play within the larger social, cultural, political and economic context of our contemporary global society.

Master in Management (MiM)

1. Align human capital practices, processes, and culture to advance organizational performance in an ethical and socially responsible manner.

2. Lead and manage organizational change.

3. Create practices that foster inclusion, teamwork, collaboration, innovation, and creativity.

4. Lead human capital practices that build and maintain employee engagement and workplace culture.

Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

  1. Demonstrate strategies and behaviors that reflect knowledge of the industry, decision making, and effective and innovative methods to deliver financial solutions.
  2. Apply ethical and data driven approaches to quantitative analysis of financial situations.
  1. Critically analyze global and domestic financial and economic issues to provide financial value to the organization
  2. Conduct an independent empirical research project and effectively communicate the results of the empirical research both in written form and verbally.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN LEADERSHIP

  1. Apply the discipline of leadership to creatively engage the community in meeting its challenges.
  2. Identify an ethical issue and apply ethical principles, values, theories or frameworks to leadership practice.
  3. Possess the cultural and communication skills necessary to interact in a reciprocal exchange that honors the human dignity of all persons.
  4. Apply theory and principles of group dynamics in assuming multiple group roles and responsibilities.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN SPORTS LEADERSHIP

  1. Learn how to apply leadership principles and practices to the business of athletics.
  2. Understand the depth and unique character of the business of athletics.
  3. Gain the ability to identify trends, current events, and innovations within the world of athletics and recognize how they impact managerial decisions.
  4. Understand the inter-relationships of athletics to the larger institution and the community that it serves.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ANALYTICS

  1. Ability to solve business problems and translate results into actionable business strategies.
  2. Ability to frame business problems, identify data and applications, and build business analytic models (programming and non-programming) to address these problems.
  3. Gain exposure to real (messy) data for decision making and risk reduction.
  4. Ability to manage projects and people effectively.
